Some times we fail to recognize our own talent. Especially, if someone fails a subject in school, they think they are an idiot. However, creativity and intelligence have other dynamics. Again, at other times, there are many who have been called smart since school but they do not know what to do with their lives, because they aren’t sure if they are truly that talented, only because they have fared well in academics. Researchers publish papers in international journals everyday about several modern age topics, and one of the psychological theories that is gaining an interest hold in society is that of multiple intelligences. Humans are capable of different kinds of intelligence, nine types to be precise, as was suggested by Howard Gardner. Later, Robert Sternberg developed on this theory with his own idea of Successful Intelligence, where he clarified that the concept of intelligence is variable with culture and place. Therefore, a person who gets an A+ may be intelligent in academics, but may not be efficient in real life. Every person needs to understand their own abilities and objectives to self-judge. Even if one fails exams can be a genius. Here we are discussing 10 most obvious signs of intelligence which indicate that you might be a genius-

  1. You Listen More Than You Talk– This is a basic requirement to be a rational human being. If you listen more, you tend to observe more and you also get the time to process the information received before you talk. Those who are just busy uttering words, may not contribute meaningful content or thought to the society. A slow speaker and steady listener is always more successful for themselves and others.
  2. You are a Night Owl– Many people criticize staying awake late at night. If you are one of those night owls, you might just be a genius. Probably you are awake because you brain doesn’t sleep; it is busy processing thoughts and information even when your body is tired. This can actually prove beneficial for scientists and researchers who have to work day and night to discover something meaningful for the society. Academicians and students need hours and sometimes, long nights of writing to publish papers in international journals. A night owl isn’t such a bad thing if you want to be a scientist, researcher or author.
  3. You Can Focus on a Thing for Hours– Some people have tremendous attention span on a certain activity, when others fail to hold focus even for 30 minutes at a stretch. Focus on a work is very important and significant in getting a work done successfully. In fact, researchers often have to engage in life time academics to get an idea to the world. If consistent focus is lacking, it is not possible. To do any work right, you need focus, so if you have it, you might be a genius.
  4. You Have an Urge to Know– When you are certain about one thing and that is you do not know many things, you are in the right track. Most of us tend to think we know everything and there is possibly nothing we can learn. But the reality is, it is never possible to know everything. We learn based on our exposure to the environment and we selectively pick up information based on our disposition. So, there will always be something beyond what we know. As long as you can understand this universal truth, you are a master.
  5. You Can Adapt to Change Easily– One who can accommodate to changes is a suitable human being for earth. Just like animals adapt to their environment amidst diverse climatic conditions and habitat, humans need to adapt and change with changing times and situations. Nothing should be a problem for you. This develops a never-give-up attitude in people. When you can adapt well, you can succeed in whatever you do.
  6. You are Curious– If you have fervor for knowledge, you are surely a genius. When you want to know, you will learn. Curiosity is the root of necessity, which is consequentially the father of invention.
  7. You are Open-minded– Knowledge is not a closed box. It grows and develops with sharing and altering. If you find yourself willing to accept the ideas of others; if you are out from the mold of me and myself, you are already a genius. Being successful requires you to be open to different concepts, thoughts, ideas, criticisms and cultures.
  8. You Like Being Alone– Most genius people have functioned in isolation. Newton had discovered gravity while socially distanced. Most scientific writers are able to publish papers in international journals because they like to work alone. Solitary existence provokes thoughts and concepts from the brain. When you are alone, you focus better on your work, you don’t waste time and you successfully accomplish tasks. If you like being alone, you might just be a genius.
  9. You Have a Great Self-control– If instant gratification is not your cup of tea, your hunger might be something beyond materials. Self-control and resilience make people disciplined and discipline makes people successful.
  10. You Have a Great Sense of Humor– It takes intelligence and common knowledge to crack jokes or insert idioms in speech which will make people laugh, instead of feeling annoyed. Humor can often lighten situations and get things done. Humor can begin conversations with strangers. Humor can spice up life. If you are a humorous person, you might be a genius too.

We often have qualities we can implement in personal and professional lives but we don’t see them. We need to identify our unique talents because each of us is different and special. Our special qualities make us what we are. Each of us, has a specific intelligence which makes us a genius.
